The Dutch Green Health Deal and UK’s NHS Carbon Reduction Strategy, are ethically reductionistic because they focus on health care structures, e.g. buildings and transportation. However, the doctorpatient relationship and health care delivery are the most carbon intensive part of the medical industry and the scope of biomedical ethics. Thus, Green Bioethics synthesizes environmental ethics and biomedical ethics to move towards sustainable and just health care delivery in practice and policy. This talk will overview sources of health care carbon, present the bioethical and environ mental implications of health care carbon, and offer strategies for carbon reduction for health care professionals and clinics.
